About Porcelain Veneers
AKA Porcelain Crowns
Porcelain veneers are one cosmetic option to correct crooked, stained, chipped, and worn teeth. It could also be used to restore the functional aspect as well.
Essentially, a veneer is a thin shell made out of porcelain and permanently bonded to the front surface of teeth. It is custom-made and stained in the dental laboratory to blend in with the patient’s teeth hiding underneath any imperfection.
On the first appointment teeth are prepared by removing a thin layer of enamel. Impressions are taken and a set of temporary veneers delivered. Patient has a chance to evaluate fit, color, function and correct anything necessary. If approved a record of temporaries is send to the laboratory where it is duplicated in porcelain.
On the second appointment veneers are tried in, fit verified and with patient’s approval permanently bonded to teeth.
