First visit
During your first visit, our objective is to get to know you better, to become familiar with your past dental experiences, to establish accurate diagnosis and suggest appropriate treatment plan that will best meet your dental needs, if necessary.
When you arrive, please be prepared to complete all insurance and health information forms unless you have already done it. We ask that you fill out several forms that will get you acquainted with our office.
Also, please assist us by providing the following information:
- Any X-rays taken within the past six months
- If you have dental insurance, please bring your insurance card, this will enable us to give you an estimate of your costs.
- A list of medications you are presently taking
Your first appointment will last approximately one hour. The initial comprehensive oral examination is one of the most important sessions. In order to make an accurate diagnosis and suggest appropriate treatment plan for you, we must know the exact state of your mouth as it is today. It is very important to record findings of your mouth, healthy or diseased, so that in the event of a change, we can make a proper diagnosis. This reference record will help to make more accurate diagnosis of your current condition and the progress and severity of change that may occur. In most cases, digital X-rays will be taken. We will perform a thorough exam and evaluate the diagnostic records, which help in diagnosing tooth decay, periodontal problems, jaw problems and any signs of oral cancer. After the examination, we will provide a detailed summary that outlines any existing dental problems and proposed treatment.
We believe that good dental care begins with open communication, and we promise to speak candidly with you. Working together, we can achieve a true partnership with one common goal – keeping your teeth, gums and jaw joints healthy!
